February 16th 1943. The law actuating the compulsory service for working in Germany, STO, is issued by Vichy. Young men of the age -groups 40-41-42 are requested for going to work in Germany.

The first maquis camps start in the Forest of Mirambelle and the canyon of the Dordogne.

These camps were often to change place to avoid denounciations.
