The Resistance gets structured : its aims, the main roads - its tactics : guerrilla ; it starts with the ambuscade at Le Chavanon. The enemy has somewhat a sense of organized groups ready to fight. Jesser, commanding the troops in charge of spotting and destroying the maquis and FFI centers, starts a combing operation. |

From july 9th 1944, two fast combat commands starting from Cantal, operate together up to Bourg-Lastic.
Then they assume a fan-like progress toward the North. From there, they comb the north of R.N. 89. The maquis, FTP and AS lie low. An only fight at Marcy, this village is burnt down. Engagements are to grow in numbers as soon as Jesser enters Creuse. In July second fortnight, the Resistance gets stronger after appealing to youngsters. It is the time of ambushes ; any unit alone is to be attacked, then a long fighting is to be avoided. From july 26th and hence, Jesser is back on RN 89. FFI start harassing him. At Saint-Angel, they succeed in making a Tatar company turns off the German Army. |
