In 1940 Minister of supplies, then, he is part of the Congress of Parliament in Vichy , on July 10th 1940. There, he expresses his refusal to allow the full authority to Marshall Pétain, abstaining willingly.

Back in Neuvic , Henri Queuille is visited by Hettier de Boislambert. The latter lets him know that general de Gaulle would agree to have him in close contact. After a few varied incidents, he reaches London in april 1943 when the general bestows him with the presidence of the Landing Commitee. In November 1943 he is appointed State Commissary of the comité de libération nationale. In June 1944 he becomes State minister of the first government of the Republic and consequently to this title, he is temporarily in charge of the presidence of the provisary goverment when general de Gaulle is absent.

As soon as the provisary government is back in Paris, early september 1944, Queuille requests from general de Gaulle to recover his freedom and withdraws to Neuvic
